In the heart of the Acha community, Bright Smile Cameroon launched a vibrant school oral health campaign aimed at educating, empowering, and equipping young learners with the knowledge and tools to care for their teeth. The campaign was held at Acha Primary School, where students, teachers, and parents came together to celebrate the importance of oral hygiene.

A Day of Learning and Laughter

The campaign kicked off with a warm welcome from the school administration and an enthusiastic crowd of pupils eager to learn. Our team of dental professionals and volunteers led a series of interactive oral health education sessions, covering:

  • The importance of brushing twice a day and using fluoride toothpaste.
  • Proper brushing techniques demonstrated with oversized toothbrushes and dental models.
  • The role of healthy eating habits in preventing tooth decay.
  • The dangers of sugary snacks and the benefits of drinking clean water.

The sessions were fun, engaging, and age-appropriate, using songs, games, and storytelling to make the lessons stick. Children participated actively, asking questions and sharing their own experiences.

Free Oral Hygiene Kits for Every Child

To ensure that every child could put their new knowledge into practice, Bright Smile Cameroon donated oral hygiene kits to all students. Each kit included:

  • toothbrush
  • tube of toothpaste
  • child-friendly oral care guide with illustrations and tips

The excitement was palpable as students received their kits—many for the first time. Teachers expressed gratitude, noting that the donation would go a long way in supporting daily hygiene routines at home.

Empowering Teachers and Parents

In addition to working with students, we also engaged teachers and parents in short sessions on how to reinforce oral health habits at home and in the classroom. We encouraged schools to integrate oral hygiene into their daily routines, such as supervised brushing after lunch.

A Lasting Impact

By the end of the campaign, over 200 students had received oral health education and hygiene kits. More importantly, they left with a sense of pride and responsibility for their health. The smiles on their faces were brighter—not just because of clean teeth, but because of the confidence that comes with being cared for and empowered.

Bright Smile Cameroon remains committed to reaching more schools like Acha, ensuring that every child has the chance to grow up with a healthy, happy smile.
